Wasp Control

May 1, 2016

Wasps are not a favorite visitor of most homes. During the Spring many families like to enjoy the outdoors on the sunny days in between the rainy days. Unfortunately, wasps like to come out on the sunny days too. They are usually trying to find a place to build a new nest and that place can often be on your porch  or under the eaves of your home.

If you’ve ever been stung by a wasp you can certainly identify with the painful sting. In most cases, the wasp sting is not dangerous unless you’re allergic to them which could cause your body to go into shock. To make your home more enjoyable take the time to get quarterly pest control from Big D Pest and Termite Services. We want your home to be critter free so you can enjoy both the indoors and outdoors without feeling threatened by annoying wasps, yellow jackets, or hornets.

A great way to keep wasps away is to have mint plants around your home. Wasps tend to not like the peppermint and will usually stay away from areas where mint plants are growing. Also, avoid wearing bright clothes when outside. Often yellow jackets, bees, and wasps mistakenly are attracted to bright clothes thinking they are a flower. Try not to wear sweet smelling perfume or cologne either.  Wasps like to feed of proteins. So if you are grilling meat outdoors be sure to keep the food on the grill or covered at all times.

If you are having problems with wasps call Big D Pest & Termite Services at 214-726-0292. We’ll get rid of any existing wasp nests as well as treat your yard and interior of your home to prevent other unwanted pests.
